50MW gas-fired plant to power Indonesian port

The Indonesian port of Tanjung Perak in the city of Surabaya is to be powered on-site by a 50 MW gas-fired power plant after the government committed $99m to the project. 

California plant adopts fast-start technology with four Siemens F-Class turbines

A substantial amount of gas-fired capacity has been added to the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) grid in the past few years. The newest plant to come online is NRG’s 720-MW Marsh Landing Generating Station, near Antioch on the Sacramento–San Joaquin River Delta.

Alstom wins $480 m contract to upgrade US natural gas plants

GDF Suez Energy North America has awarded Alstom a long-term service contract to give its power plant fleet new flexibility. Under the terms of this $480 million contract, Alstom will provide comprehensive maintenance services and gas turbine upgrade packages for four GDF Suez natural gas-fired power stations. The plants together use 14 Alstom GT24 gas turbines and generate enough electricity to power more than three million homes in Texas and Massachusetts.

MHI to supply two M501GAC gas turbines for new GTCC plant in the US

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) has been selected to supply two M501GAC gas turbines to be installed at the 1,000 MW Wildcat Point Generation Facility of Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC), a power generation and transmission cooperative in the U.S. The contract will be officially signed soon, together with a separate long-term service agreement (LTSA) for the gas turbines. The generation facility is scheduled to go online in 2017.

Two Siemens H-Class gas turbines for Malaysian combined cycle plant

Siemens will supply two H-Class gas turbines for the TNB Prai combined cycle power plant (CCPP) in Malaysia, taking the total of H-Class gas turbines sold worldwide to 22. The company will also supply two generators and two steam turbines.

Chinese company to build 390 MW gas-fired power plant in Bosnia

Swiss-based KTG AG and authorities of the Bosnian town of Zenica recently said they have picked China's Sepco III Electric Power Construction Corp to build a 390 MW gas-fired power plant in the central Bosnian town. Sepco III was chosen after it offered the best price of 218 million euros ($284.44 million) to carry out the project, KTG CEO Branko Montenegro said. Other bidders included two German, one Italian and one Spanish firm, he added. Under the deal, General Electric Co. is expected to supply gas turbines for the future plant.

GE Oil & Gas to establish new global headquarters in London

GE Oil & Gas recently announced that it will establish its new global headquarters in London. Florence will remain the global headquarters for GE Oil & Gas Turbomachinery Products & Services, a more than $6 billion business and a key manufacturing and engineering site for the production of centrifugal compressors and gas turbines.

TurboCombustor Technology, Inc. to use Paradigm Precision as trade name

TurboCombustor Technology, Inc. (TCT), specialists in the complex fabrication of gas turbine engine parts, announced recently that it will henceforth do business under the trade name Paradigm Precision. The name change reflects the move by TCT's parent company, Dynamic Precision Group, Inc. to consolidate its growing family of companies under a single name. TCT's legal corporate name will not change.
