Siemens Energy has recently opened a facility in Charlottesville, Virginia for the innovative commercial production of airfoil ceramic cores for gas turbine blades and vanes using the TOMO technology, initially developed by Mikro Systems, Inc. The advancements are expected to improve the cooling capability of gas turbine blading, thus enabling higher levels of engine performance and efficiency for future Siemens Gas Turbines. This technology is available to Siemens as a part of the Technology License agreement with Mikro Systems.
GE to supply aeroderivative gas turbine equipment to Statoil Petroleum

GE Oil & Gas and Norway-based Statoil Petroleum AS have signed two new, five-year frame agreements that call for GE to supply turbomachinery equipment as well as services to support Statoil’s installed fleet of GE turbomachinery. The equipment will be deployed primarily for Statoil’s onshore and offshore projects in Norway, as well as for other global activities, between 2013 and 2018, according to General Electric.
Dresser-Rand sells new DATUM centrifugal compressor model to Pemex

Dresser-Rand, supplier of rotating equipment solutions, recently reached a milestone when it sold its 1,000th DATUM centrifugal compressor ---the new DATUM I centrifugal compressor – to Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), to supplement capacity on its existing Abkatun-D Platform located in the Tabasco Field in the Bay of Campeche. Dresser-Rand will engineer, fabricate, install and test the two compression modules with an expected delivery to Pemex in early 2014.
IDGC of Centre to connect Tutaevsky combined cycle gas turbine unit to its electric networks

As part of the scheme of power supply to the grid of the Tutaevsky combined cycle gas turbine unit of Yaroslavl Generation Company, IDGC of Centre continues the construction of the 110/10 kV PGU-CHP Substation and a cable line in Tutaev of the Yaroslavl region.
The new substation will connect the generating facility with high-voltage networks and the substation Tutaev 220/110 kV of FGC UES and provide electricity to enterprises of the Industrial Park on the site of the Tutaevsky engine plant. The investment will amount to 162 mln rubles.
Iran plans to change gas power plants to combined cycle plants

Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou recently said his ministry plans to change the country's gas power plants to combined cycle power plants. Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, Namjou said the permission for the same has been received and related plans will be implemented this year, named as the year of "Political Epic, Economic Epic".
Siemens to deliver three SGT-500 gas turbines in Nigeria

Siemens Energy has been awarded a contract by Nigeria's Edo Cement, part of Nigeria's BUA Group, for delivery of three SGT-500 gas turbines to produce power for the Edo Cement's Okpella Cement Factory, located in Okpella, a town in Nigeria's Edo state. Delivery of the turbines is scheduled for spring 2014.
GE wins maintenance contract for two gas-fired power plants in the UK

IPL to build 650 MW combined cycle gas turbine power station in Indiana

Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) has announced plans to power the future needs of its customers by constructing thermal power plants in Indiana. IPL filed its request with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) to invest $631 million into a new combined-cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power station near Martinsville.
