LM6000 Israel gas turbine

GE has shipped 12 LM6000-PC Sprint aeroderivative gas turbine-generators to the Dorad Energy power plant in Ashkelon, Israel, to fulfill part of its $200 million contract with Wood Group GTS. The plant will play a critical role in enhancing the reliability of Israel’s electric system and will be the largest, and one of the first, independent power plants built in Israel since the country deregulated its electricity markets several years ago.

First gas turbine reconditioning workshop in Vietnam

French conglomerate Alstom and Electricity of Viet Nam (EVN) recently announced a partnership that would establish a gas turbine reconditioning workshop in southern coastal Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province's Phu My Town. This joint venture would help power generating organizations to shorten the time for getting units to back into operation, contributing to the assurance of the nation's energy security, according to Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai.

Alstom completes Shoaiba III power plant

Global power company Alstom recently announced the successful completion of the handover of the 1.2 GW Shoaiba III steam power plant to the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), following the completion of the project's final unit. Comprising three individual 400 MW blocks, construction of the Shoaiba III plant began in September 2008 and has been built around Alstom's STF40 steam turbines and GIGATOP 2-pole turbogenerators. The plant is fired by crude oil.

GE Marine delivered eight LM2500 aeroderivative marine gas turbines recently that will power the United States Navy’s DDG 113 and DDG 115 destroyers, in the DDG 51 restart program. Commencing with this program, the U.S. Navy has adopted GE’s recommended LM2500 common engine initiative. 

Trent 60 gas turbines for EDF Luminus

Rolls-Royce announced recently that two of the Group's Trent 60 gas turbines have successfully entered service at the new EDF Luminus power plant located at Angleur in the city of Liège, Belgium.
