Petronas Floating LNG to have aeroderivative-driven compressors

GE Oil & Gas recently said it will supply its gas turbine-driven compressor train and mechanical drive technology to Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), for a second floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) unit being built off the coast of Sabah and Sarawak, East Malaysia.
Compression trains are used in the liquefaction process, which cools natural gas to a liquid state. GE will supply four of its PGT25+G4 gas turbine generator systems and two nitrogen trains featuring two LM6000-PF+ 2BCL907 aeroderivative gas turbines in mechanical-drive mode.
Alstom to provide four HRSGs for two combined-cycle plants in Texas

Alstom recently signed a contract worth approximately €90 million (over $100m) with Exelon Generation to supply four Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs) for two new combined-cycle gas power plants in Texas. Each of these will be equipped with two General Electric H-class gas turbines (Exelon Generation's Colorado Bend Generating Station in Wharton County and Wolf Hollow plant in Granbury), and is expected to generate approximately 1,000MW on the Texas grid. Construction of the new gas units is likely to begin in 2015, with commercial operation targeted for 2017.
Rolls Wood Group secures maintenance contract from Fingrid

Rolls Wood Group (RWG) has won a contract for shop inspection, repair and engine testing services, for two Rolls-Royce Avon gas generators operated by Fingrid Oyj (Fingrid). The deal was signed after a comprehensive tendering process, a strict pre-qualification process and submission of a detailed commercial and technical proposal.
The French government recently gave formal approval to General Electric’s $13.5 billion deal for the energy business of Alstom, the French power and transportation company. The approval was announced in a statement from the economy minister, Emmanuel Macron.
The latest approval has come less than seven months after the announcement of a deal that rocked the world of French business. The government’s clearance was required because of a law enacted under Mr. Macron’s predecessor, Arnaud Montebourg, which required all foreign investments in strategic sectors to be reviewed.
Three LNG trains to use 12 Trent packages in Lake Charles plant

Rolls-Royce recently announced that BG Group has selected the Trent 60 DLE industrial gas turbine as the driver for the main refrigeration compressors in the proposed Lake Charles LNG Export project in Louisiana, USA. The two companies have also signed a Long Term Service Agreement covering the support and maintenance of the equipment for up to 25 years.
Flow batteries could substitute gas turbine peakers, says firm

Siemens H-class fleet attains a cumulative 100,000 EOH

The fleet of Siemens H-class gas turbines achieved a cumulative 100,000 equivalent operating hours (EOH) at the end of September 2014. Forty of the H-class gas turbines have been sold worldwide to date and eleven of these machines are currently in successful commercial operation.
Rolls-Royce Holdings plc recently said that BG Group has selected twelve of the company’s Trent 60 DLE gas turbines for its LNG Export project in Louisiana, U.S. BG Group is likely to use the turbines to drive propane and refrigerant compressors in its LNG trains.
