Pennsylvania to have 1,050 MW combined cycle plant

Competitive Power Ventures (CPV), General Electric’s GE Energy Financial Services unit and Osaka Gas USA have broken ground on a $700 million, 1,050-megawatt, gas-fired power plant to be built in Johnstown, Pa.

The combined-cycle electric generating station, known as CPV Fairview Energy Center, will be fueled by a mix of natural gas and ethane, Kallanish Energy learns.

CPV Fairview will feature 7HA.02 gas turbines, a steam turbine, generators and additional controls and equipment, all supplied by GE.

Construction of the power plant is expected to take 30 months.

Osaka Gas USA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Osaka Gas Company Ltd., formed to develop, construct, acquire and manage energy businesses throughout North America.
