Coupling turbine trains

The Rotalign Ultra MultiCoupling feature allows the alignment of up to seven machines in a train to be measured simultaneously, with a single quarter rotation (or less) of the shafts. This saves time and resources when aligning turbine trains on the critical path in an outage, or machine trains with gearboxes that are difficult to turn.

Turbine lowers NOx

Kawasaki Gas Turbines-Americas announced the world's first commercial operation of a new low emissions technology from Kawasaki and Catalytica Energy Systems, Inc., which has been retrofitted at a gas turbine co-generation facility at the Sonoma Developmental Center in Eldridge, CA. The core of the system is a 1.4 megawatt Kawasaki M1A-13D that has been rebuilt to accommodate the new Xonon Cool Combustion system from Catalytica, which employs a catalytic combustor that achieves less than three parts per million of NOx.

Digital flow computer

Krohne, Inc has released the Summit 8800 Digital Flow Computer, which features a touch screen graphic display, as well as performance, handling, and interoperability improvements over standard flow computers. It can used in metering oil, gas, wet gas, steam and water; bulk chemicals batching; heat exchanger metering and logging; and metering production processes.

Heat-of-compression dryers

Ingersoll Rand has announced a line of heat-of-compression (HOC) dryers. The dryers turn wasted heat into useful energy, resulting in clean, dry, oil-free air at a fraction of the cost of traditional desiccant dryers. By using heat produced during the compression process, Ingersoll Rand HOC dryers can deliver instrument-quality air using approximately the same energy as a 150 watt light bulb.

Ultra cool bearings

Voith Ultra Cool Bearings have a heat conductivity six times higher than that of other materials. Cooling channels ensure faster heat conduction by reducing the heating of the oil that comes into contact with the bearing surface. The Ultra Cool Bearings are offset journal bearings. The interior shape of two offset half-shells affix the shaft, particularly at light-duty or idling speed.

Henkel has introduced a two-part, sprayable ceramic coating designed to protect metal surfaces on industrial equipment from wear, abrasion and corrosion. Packaged in a reusable dual-cartridge dispenser, Loctite Nordbak 7255 Sprayable Ceramic Coating is sprayed onto metal components to create low-friction surfaces that improve equipment efficiency. The coating can be used on tank linings,mixing vessels, pump housings, impellers, chutes, troughs and centrifuge components.

The Xe-Series control is a more convenient and reliable monitoring system that provides a window into all vital compressor data. The Xe-Series controller debuted last year on the Ingersoll Rand R55-75ne Nirvana VSD Premium Efficiency and R55-75n Nirvana VSD Efficiency rotary screw air compressors and is now available on the larger systems.
