As part of its expansion and reconstruction, the Croatian steam-gas power plant EL-TO Zagreb has chosen Doosan Škoda Power as the supplier of a new cycle core for the 36.6 MW DST-G20 back-pressure steam turbine. For the Pilsen-based manufacturer of steam turbines and other components for power generation operations, this is a comeback as in 2006 the company supplied a similar turbine for the power plant, which is still in operation today.
“The heat from the steam turbine is fed to one controlled heat supply duct and to two hot water heaters. While process steam will be used for industrial needs, the heat from the heaters will also be used for district heating in Zagreb,” says Václav Waldmann, project engineer at Doosan Škoda Power. In addition to the turbine, Doosan Škoda Power will also supply the necessary turbine set accessories including the generator and the control system.
Doosan Skoda Power made turbine was chosen by FATA, the main supplier of EL-TO Zagreb project. The EUR 123m project is co-financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the European Investment Bank (EIB). The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2021.
