Bahrain aluminum smelter installs 9HA

Alba has installed the GE 9HA Gas Turbine at its power station (PS) 5.

PS 5 is a 1,792 MW combined cycle gas turbine power plant with an efficiency of 54 per cent. GE and GAMA Consortium is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor for PS 5 wherein GE will provide three 9HA gas turbines, three steam turbines and three high recovery steam generators. Mr Anis said GE had been working with Alba since the 1970s when it supplied Frame 5 units for power stations 1 and 2.

Alba has embarked on a massive expansion programme that will boost its production capacity to 1.5 million tonnes per annum.
