Bayou Bend CCS, a carbon capture and sequestration project on the Texas Gulf Coast, is acquiring almost 100,000 onshore acres in Chambers and Jefferson Counties, Texas. This expansion, combined with its previously announced offshore acreage, totals nearly 140,000 acres and positions Bayou Bend as one of the largest carbon storage projects in the United States. With a gross storage capacity of over one billion metric tons, Bayou Bend acts as a carbon transportation and storage solution for industrial emitters in the Houston Ship Channel and Beaumont/Port Arthur region. Bayou Bend is a Chevron, Talos Energy, and Carbonvert joint venture.
