GE to manufacture gas turbines in Korea

General Electric Co. (GE) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Hanwha Techwin, aviation and defense manufacturing unit of South Korean Hanwha Grouto to produce industrial gas turbine and compressor packages.
Under the agreement, Hanwha Techwin will source gas turbine and compressors and assemble gas turbine generators and compressors that are used to produce and boost electricity. The Korean company also agreed with GE in Italy to secure sales rights on gas turbines for small-sized electric generators recently.
Hanwha Techwin is said to be capable of producing high-pressure gas compressor and gas turbine package for electric generators. The company currently manufactures industrial air and gas compressors.
