At Germany, 595 MW combined cycle power from one unit at 61% efficiency

The combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plant at the Lausward location in the port of Düsseldorf, currently under construction and due to enter service in 2016, is aiming for three benchmarks. It is intended to have an output of 595 MW, the highest for a single combined cycle unit; its net energy conversion efficiency will add up to more than 61 percent; and aims to extract 300 MW of thermal energy from a single power plant unit in combined cycle operation. In this way, the overall efficiency of natural gas as a fuel rises to 85 percent. The heart of the Lausward CCGT power plant's Fortuna unit is the SGT5-8000H gas turbine from Siemens, which has already been bagged 28 orders so far.
