Asset Condition Monitoring for Aerospace, Turbomachinery Components

Author(s):

Billy Sanez, Director of Global Marketing at SpotSee, addresses the risks of aerospace component transportation and how asset condition monitoring may help.

Turbomachinery International met with Billy Sanez, Director of Global Marketing at SpotSee, at POWERGEN 2025 to discuss the typical risks associated with turbomachinery/aerospace component transportation and, more importantly, what can be done.

Sanez said: “During transportation, one of the biggest risks is impact. Whether it’s hitting a pothole, being dropped, or sharp turns, it may cause internal damage that’s usually not seen but could be registered through shock monitoring.”

He also laid out the groundwork to further expand asset condition monitoring across the energy and turbomachinery industries: “One of the key things is to measure anything that could create damage to machinery,” said Sanez. “Whether it’s during transportation or on location, it’s key to know when something happens. Knowing when it happened or where it happened allows you to deploy help or send a new [machine]. This ensures on-time and confident delivery.”
