The Electricity Supply Board of Ireland contracted GE Vernova to execute a life extension and modernization project at the 

, installing its GT26 high-efficiency upgrade and SEMIPOL, static excitation equipment, and startup frequency converter technology. The project intends to improve performance, reliability, output, and support Ireland’s energy transition goals. Completion is slated for 2026.

In cooperation with Doosan Enerbility, Mitsubishi Power will deliver two M701 JAC gas turbines and auxiliary equipment for Petrovietnam’s 1,155-MW 

 gas turbine combined cycle plant in Can Tho, South Vietnam. The O Mon 4 power plant, once operational, will generate stable electricity for the Mekong Delta region under the Block B – O Mon gas-to-power project.

 expanded their international partnership by signing a new collaboration agreement, allowing them to engage with the Edgewing joint venture for the Global Combat Air Program. Through these collaborations, the partners aim to accelerate the development of power and propulsion systems for next-generation fighter aircraft. Currently, they are progressing on the engine demonstrator, technologies for additive manufacturing, cooling systems, high-pressure compressor design, and more.

The Taiwan Power Co. also granted Mitsubishi Power and CTCI a $5.2 billion contract to execute a full turnkey project at its 2,800-MW 

 in Miaoli County, Taiwan. Mitsubishi Power will deliver five units with M501 JAC gas turbines, steam turbines, and auxiliary equipment, while CTCI performs engineering, procurement, and construction and balance-of-plant work for the project.

NextDecade completed the positive final investment decision and closed financial transactions for 

 at Rio Grande LNG, with the company also progressing Train 5 toward FID in Q4 2025. NextDecade issued Bechtel Energy full notice to proceed with turnkey engineering, procurement, and construction on Train 4 and associated assets.

EthosEnergy Thrives in Remote Monitoring, LNG, and Lifecycle Extension Markets

TURBO: What are the latest technical innovations in the remote monitoring and control market? How has EthosEnergy integrated these technologies?

It’s a great question, especially with all the recent changes in technology that AI has brought about. AI has been around for 20 years, and we’ve been using it for a very long time. We’ve stepped up our Performance Center, we’ve opened a new facility in Houston for the Performance Center and, when customers visit us, they’re really impressed.

Specifically, we’ve used advanced pattern recognition software (APRS) forever, so that’s been the staple of remote monitoring. Now, we’re using the next generation of monitoring which automatically diagnoses the causes of what APRS sees in the machine trend, then compares to all known failure modes and indicates what’s likely happening at the site.

Additionally, we’ve added high-speed start, stop, and shutdown modeling to critical machinery data. This ensures that our machines aren’t being operated beyond their design parameters. Next, we’re moving to integrate generative AI models.

TURBO: How have delayed gas turbine lead times affected EthosEnergy’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations? What is being done to counter this trend?

The delays on new gas turbines have actually affected us in a positive way. Customers are looking to extend their assets as new power plants take longer to come online. This has led to the additional usage of existing assets, which is our core business. Another huge benefit is refurbishing and moving units being sold at a premium, so these market dynamics have been good for us.

Fervo Energy contracted Baker Hughes to design and deliver 

 for five Organic Rankine Cycle power plants near Milford, UT. The company will deliver five 60-MWe ORC units and engineer, manufacture, and supply turboexpanders and BRUSH generators. The power generation project, dubbed Cape Phase II, will generate approximately 300 MW of clean power for the grid, or the equivalent power needed for about 180,000 homes.

 KRW 560 billion to build three LNG storage tanks and ancillary facilities, each with 270,000-kiloleter capacity, for the Dangjin LNG Terminal Phase 2 project in South Chungcheong, South Korea. Construction will begin in September 2025, with completion anticipated by December 2029.

Rolls-Royce Power Systems and Microsoft published a position paper evaluating 

 as a sustainable, alternative backup fuel for data centers in Singapore. The paper identifies and outlines several steps to full HVO adoption, in addition to other low-carbon fuels as replacements for fossil diesel in digital infrastructure. Compared to fossil diesel, HVO can reduce lifecycle CO

 emissions by up to 90%, adhering to Singapore’s Green Data Center Roadmap.

 Škoda Power €125 million to supply two 55-MW back-pressure steam turbines, a two-pole generator, and conduct project execution for its heat-and-power plant in Plock, Poland. The project’s civil works phase will modernize two turbine sets, units TG4 and TG5, with full completion scheduled for 2029.

With users wanting to extend their power assets and avoid ever-climbing component lead times, EthosEnergy’s Operations & Maintenance (O&M) division is attracting significant opportunities on an international level. Across the 

, and more, the O&M business is ensuring that power plants run safely, efficiently, and reliably on a daily basis through maintenance, monitoring, and optimizing equipment lifecycles.

Ana Amicarella, CEO of EthosEnergy, commented on these O&M wins and another major move: the acquisition of Turbine Services Ltd. (TSL). Per Amicarella, TSL allows the company to counter delays with one-stop-shop capabilities and represents the change needed in the turbomachinery industry—readily accessible parts to support power demand.

Turbine Services Ltd. allows EthosEnergy to shorten component lead times, while the Operations & Maintenance division’s success is credited to reliability and consistency.

EthosEnergy Highlights TSL Acquisition, O&M Performance in 2025

TURBO: What was the strategic intent behind the TSL acquisition? Will there be more acquisitions by EthosEnergy? If yes, what is the focus area?

We closed TSL just a few months ago, and we’re excited to have them as a key strategic addition to our portfolio. It allows us to give customers a one-stop-shop with reduced lead times and quick access to an inventory of parts. We also have faster quoting time, as we’re no longer a third-party pricing provider when responding to bids. We believe that we’re now a faster, very reliable partner for our customers. It was a great add and these people have integrated and performed phenomenally.

TURBO: What’s the driver behind recent wins for EthosEnergy’s O&M division? Why is the company winning in this area?

Our O&M is a top-performing division, even when compared to the competition. There is not a close second in terms of the reliability and consistency of performance, so the uptick we see is customers recognizing that. We have OEMs asking us to take over their portfolio of O&M contracts. On top of that, we’ve added resources to the front of our business and taken it international.

 for bp’s Tangguh LNG plant in Papua Barat, Indonesia, which covers spare parts, repair services, and field-service engineering support for the facility’s turbomachinery: heavy-duty gas turbines, steam turbines, and compressors for three LNG trains. Baker Hughes is cooperating with PT Imeco Inter Sarana, a local partner, to deliver local content per the agreement.

ACWA Power, the Saudi Electricity Co., and Korea Electric Power Corp. reached 

 for the Rumah 1 and Nairyah 1 integrated power-plant projects. Saudi Power Procurement Co. invested approximately USD $4 billion in the projects and will manage project tendering and power purchasing.

 signed a 20-year sale and purchase agreement for 4 MTPA of LNG from the Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 development project in Jefferson County, TX. The PALP 2 development project will feature two liquefaction trains that produce approximately 13 MTPA of LNG. This phase increases the Port Arthur LNG facility’s total liquefaction capacity to about 26 MTPA. 

Per an agreement with International Electric Power III, Essential Utilities will invest $26 million in a 1,400-acre 

 in Greene County, PA. The company’s subsidiary, Aqua, will also design, build, and operate an 18 million gallon-per-day water treatment plant connected to the power plant and data center. The Greene County project may come online in Q1 2029, with Essential Utilities and IEP already securing manufacturing slots for gas turbines. The turbines will be delivered in 2028.

GE Vernova is investing 16.2 million CAD to upgrade its hydropower manufacturing 

 in Quebec, Canada. The project includes expanding the site by approximately 20% and installing new equipment for large-scale component manufacturing.

Since May 2025, numerous companies have enlisted EthosEnergy’s maintenance, repair, overhaul, and operations services as the industry prepares for exponential power demand. Customers in Rhode Island, the Dominican Republic, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and other locations are relying on EthosEnergy to extend the lifetime of their power assets, especially in light of increasing turbine-lead times.

For example, EthosEnergy signed a multi-year operations and maintenance agreement with the 

, a two-by-one combined-cycle gas turbine power plant in Providence, Rhode Island.The facility, commissioned in 2002 with a nominal output of 596 MW, is powered by two SGT6-5000F gas turbines and one GE D11 steam turbine.

, Ltd., a 50-year-old New York-based manufacturer and supplier of aftermarket parts for heavy-duty gas and steam turbines.

Amicarella said that EthosEnergy will continue servicing customer assets, with new acquisitions and growth strategies bolstering this market role.

According to the CEO, EthosEnergy addresses long gas turbine-lead times and increasing power demand through maintenance, repair, overhaul, and lifecycle extension.

It’s been a wonderful experience. They are very intelligent people, quick with decision making, supportive of us, and have a very acquisitive culture. They’re interested in how we move things forward and how we make ourselves better. It’s been a terrific partnership so far.

TURBO: Are there any changes to EthosEnergy’s strategic approach, growth drivers, etc.?

Due to the acquisition appetite of our new shareholders, we’ve had an opportunity to re-evaluate our strategy. We’re looking at the entire portfolio and what things could be added. The last acquisition we made gives you an idea of the speed we’re moving. This is a perfect opportunity for us to review what makes sense for the portfolio and what doesn’t. It allows us to align with the market and focus on what we’re good at.

Bad Creek Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Station

 will continue operation for 50 years. Bad Creek, near Salem, SC, features four upgraded units that generate 1,680 MW of carbon-free energy for about 860,000 consumers, serving as Duke Energy’s largest battery since 1991.

 in the Schenectady Center of Excellence for Steam and Generator, expanding generator, assembly, and testing capacities and adding up to 50 new positions to meet global demand. The investment will enhance manufacturing for GE Vernova’s H65 and H84 generators, which are coupled with efficient HA gas turbines.

Solvanic started a front-end engineering and design study for its 

electrochemically mediated amine regeneration

 carbon-capture technology at Coastal Bend LNG on Texas’ Gulf Coast—a multi-train natural gas liquefaction and export facility. The EMAR technology utilizes an electrochemical process that releases amine-captured CO

 with electricity, as opposed to the high-temperature steam of typical thermal amine systems.

 in Pecos County, TX, an off-grid power complex designed to support hyperscale data centers and advanced AI. The project, in development since 2024, is located on over 8,000 acres and generates 5 MW of power with high-efficiency gas turbines and battery storage.

MTU Yuchai Power, a joint venture between Rolls-Royce and Yuchai Diesel, finalized production for the new mtu 

 at its Suzhou, China facility. Rolls-Royce signed multiple contracts with regional power generation OEMs and will deliver engines shortly. It is specifically designed for mission-critical operations, demonstrating increased power density, optimized fuel efficiency, and reliability.

FS-Elliott a dual-inlet, double-flow centrifugal air compressor—dubbed the 

—applicable to industries such as biofermentation, pneumatic conveying, petrochemical and refinery operations, chemical production, water treatment, and industrial gas. For high-flow, low-pressure operations, the P650 DF demonstrates high capacity within a compact, oil-free, and cost-effective design.

Coastal Bend LNG, a planned 22.5 MTPA natural gas liquefaction and export facility in Ingleside, TX, will use 

 process technology upon commercial start-up. Situated along Texas’ Gulf Coast, the planned development includes several natural gas liquefaction trains, cogeneration capability, LNG storage tanks, and export facilities.

Everllence and MEYER RE are partnering to develop and advance 

 for existing maritime vessels; specifically, converting four-stroke engines to methanol operation. Both companies will deploy their expertise to minimize the industry’s carbon footprint, improve operational efficiency, and comply with environmental regulations.

In light of interrupted trade relationships and international irresolution, Canada is actively funding domestic carbon capture, utilization, and storage technologies to continue greenhouse gas mitigation efforts, specifically 

 in Ottawa. The Energy Innovation Program invested $2.5 million in the company’s DAC project, which uses large-scale CO₂-capture beds for colder climates.

How Industry Can Support Women in Turbomachinery

How can the industry support and uplift women in turbomachinery?

Going into it, sometimes you fall into a great role model—a great mentor who gives you that boost of courage or just shows you what the future possibility is like. Other times, you have to be intentional around it. We have great opportunities with things like the ASME mentoring program and the Young Student Advisory Committee, which promotes what jobs and careers could look like in turbomachinery. And then sometimes you get lucky with professors like Jackie O'Connor at Penn State, who are just fantastic and do awesome work. You then get a chance to showcase what you've learned and build a bridge into an industry of what the future possibilities could be like for your own career. So, building these networks in the places that do exist—there are places that exist with a lot of great opportunity—is a key to helping the next generation of women and men be fantastic in the turbomachinery industry.
