Recent investment expands company's market position in Northern Malaysia

Air Products has announced plans to build, own, and operate two nitrogen plants in Penang, Malaysia, specifically in the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone and Batu Kawan Industrial Park. Additionally, the company will extend its pipeline network in both areas.

The company has two air separation units in the Prai Industrial Area and a pipeline network in the north of the country. To that effect, the company will construct a nitrogen plant at a greenfield site in Batu Kawan Industrial Park and integrate it into the existing pipeline network. Air Products will also build a new nitrogen plant in the Bayan Lepas Free Industrial Zone to meet the increasing demand from the electrical, electronics, and other manufacturing industries.

Switching from hauled-in liquified nitrogen to gaseous nitrogen supply via pipeline improves reliability for customers, particularly those with high-volume demand. This transition also assists in reducing carbon emissions.
