True North, the solar farm in Texas, will supply clean, renewable energy to power Meta’s operations in the region.

Avangrid started construction of True North, a 240 MWac (321 MWdc) solar farm in Falls County, TX, to support Meta’s upcoming data center in neighboring Temple, its second data center facility in Texas.

Pedro Azagra, the CEO of Avangrid, a sustainable energy company and member of the Iberdrola Group, said: ““We are very excited to announce this milestone, which reflects our unwavering commitment to advancing the clean energy transition and building a more sustainable future for all. With projects like True North, we continue our mission of helping the country meet its ambitious energy goals, while also creating quality jobs and strengthening our local economies.”

True North is expected to reach commercial operations by 2025. More than 200 local jobs will be created by the construction of the solar farm, and it is expected to pay over $40 million in property taxes over 25 years to the state of Texas, in which the company already operates more than 1,250 MW of onshore wind facilities.
