Designed to be an efficient natural gas-fired facility, it is likely to be equipped with advanced technologies to emerge as a clean power generating facility. The power plant will have three General Electric natural gas turbines, with a heat recovery steam generator and steam turbine generator each.

Bechtel is expected to start construction in mid-2016 and Cricket Valley Energy Center will be able to meet power requirements of nearly one million US households. Bechtel is developing another natural gas-fired, combined-cycle power plant for Advanced Power affiliate Carroll County Energy in Ohio, US.

Cricket Valley Energy project manager Robert E De Meyere said, "We are confident the expertise and experience Bechtel brings to our project will help achieve our goal to make Cricket Valley Energy a trusted resource in the region's energy supply, revitalise a dormant industrial site, and create jobs and tax revenue for the town of Dover and the region."
