Doosan Enerbility Ships First 380 MW Gas Turbine to U.S. for SpaceXAI Project
The DGT6-300H shipment is the Korean OEM's first gas turbine export to the U.S., where it says it holds 12 turbine contracts.
Doosan Enerbility shipped a 380 MW DGT6-300H S2 gas turbine to the United States for a project led by SpaceXAI, the company said after a ceremony Oct. 6 at its Changwon headquarters assembly plant.¹ Doosan described the unit as its first gas turbine export to the U.S. market, for a data center and energy infrastructure project.¹ ²
The company did not disclose the contract price or the project site, and it gave no date for when the unit will enter service.³
The Machine and the Order Book
The DGT6-300H is an H-class turbine rated at 380 MW in simple-cycle mode, with efficiency above 43%, according to JKN's report citing product specifications.² Doosan localized large gas turbine production in 2019 and calls itself the fifth company worldwide to master the technology. The German outlet Netz-Trends noted that this is the manufacturer's own claim and that it could not independently confirm it.³
Doosan says it has contracted to supply 12 gas turbines to U.S. customers, and Seoul Economic Daily reported that industry estimates put about five of those with SpaceXAI.¹ The company added seven 380 MW turbines from a U.S. firm in March, according to JKN. Those units are scheduled for delivery at one per month starting in May 2029.²
Why the Shipment Matters
Large-frame slots have been tight across the industry as data center developers compete for capacity. Doosan credits its U.S. wins to proven performance, competitive delivery times and maintenance support from its Houston subsidiary, DTS, JKN reported.² The same report cited investor relations data showing Doosan winning seven of 18 large H-class gas turbine orders in the U.S., ahead of competitors with six, four and one.²
Doosan's earlier U.S. order, for two gas turbines from a technology company, was covered by Turbomachinery International in October 2025.⁴ Seoul Economic Daily quoted Son Seung-woo, head of Doosan's power services business group, as saying the shipment shows Korean gas turbines can enter the supply chain of a major AI company, and that Doosan plans to push harder into North America.¹
What to Watch
One turbine shipped does not prove sustained delivery capability. The first test is whether Doosan can hold schedule on the later units. The seven turbines ordered in March do not begin delivery until 2029, and JKN noted that a separate 6.4 GW Texas project remains undecided on turbine supplier and order size.² Operators weighing H-class capacity will also be looking at Doosan's U.S. field service, since long-term maintenance agreements are likely to decide repeat orders.
