US-based industrial multinational General Electric (GE) has opened a maintenance facility in Turkey to service gas turbines used in power generation and mechanical drive applications.
The GE Aeroderivative Gas Turbine Service Center in Istanbul is likely to serve as a maintenance hub for installed GE turbines in the entire Middle East region, comprising 10 other markets.
Located near the Sabiha Gokcen Airport in Istanbul’s Anatolian side, the center’s services cover engine disassembly and assembly, inspection, power turbine and low pressure turbine exchange, hot section exchange and engine reassembly. In addition to maintenance services, the facility will provide equipment support for the Middle East, with Turkey a regional maintenance hub.
GE’s operations in Turkey date back to 1948, beginning with the establishment of a light bulb factory. GE Turkey today has six facilities.
