Hanwha Power Systems, PSM Unify as Global Business: Hanwha Power

Hanwha Impact’s subsidiaries, Hanwha Power Systems and Power Systems Manufacturing (PSM), will integrate their brands and change the company name to “Hanwha Power.” The unified company will proactively address the quickly evolving demands of the international power generation market. Hanwha Power will position itself as a comprehensive energy infrastructure provider, covering main equipment, auxiliary systems, and services.

“At a time when the importance of energy equipment has reached its peak, Hanwha Power will consolidate global capabilities based on rotating machinery technology to strengthen the entire power industry value chain,” said Rafi Balta, CEO of Hanwha Power. “We will enhance local responsiveness and service quality to improve the reliability and efficiency of power plants, and leap forward as a global energy solution company leading the decarbonization era.”

The unified business will allow customers to work with a single partner, optimizing the entire lifecycle and responding quickly to a changing energy environment where a stable power supply is becoming a critical challenge. The integration propels both companies beyond their individual, equipment-focused structures into solution providers with response capabilities across gas turbines and compressors.

Also, adding to their existing LNG gas turbine capabilities, the company will combine expertise in low-carbon power generation using fuels like hydrogen and ammonia to satisfy the global trend of decarbonization. With its combustor technology, Hanwha Power plans to lead the development of a sustainable energy ecosystem by offering solutions to retrofit installed gas turbines into eco-friendly units that complement renewable energy sources.

Hanwha Power plans to organically integrate and operate its global locations across North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, optimizing operations within technology development, engineering, sales, and services. As capacity demand sharply increases due to electrification and data centers, Hanwha Power will support the role of high-efficiency gas turbines and precision fuel supply systems.

SM100 Pro Series

In May 2025, Hanwha Power Systems launched a new compressor portfolio: the SM100 Pro Series, which includes models SM3100, SM4100, SM5100, SM6100, and SM7100. The upgraded series improves corrosion and rust resistance, thermal efficiency, and scale blockage, and optimizes aerodynamics. The cooler-tube materials are upgraded with stainless steel 304, which is resistant to rust and corrosion. They increase thermal efficiency by securing more than 10% of the heat area.

The tube’s scale-blockage phenomenon was also minimized by over 20% within the inner diameter’s cross-sectional area. Compared to the previous compressors, the enhanced aerodynamic components increase efficiency and flow range by approximately 1 - 3% and 1.5 - 4%, respectively. The higher specific power (efficiency) rates vary by model, but all feature improved corrosion resistance and heat-exchanger efficiency in the superior turbine strike tube.

The company integrated long-term reliability, technology, and gas turbine experience data from its database, further improving the SM100 Pro Series’ equipment efficiency rate. Each turbocompressor manufacturer is currently focused on quality products, solutions tailored to each customer application, and installing “green” technology to fulfill international environmental requirements. Hanwha Power Systems is building a U.S.-based packaging and manufacturing facility by 2025, with first production in early 2026 to meet these market standards.
