The company’s rapid expansion into the U.S. gas turbine market is enabled by proven performance, swift delivery time, and locally established maintenance services. Doosan Turbomachinery Services, the company’s Houston-based subsidiary in the United States, features gas turbine maintenance capabilities that were key in securing recent contracts.
“Counting this contract, we will now be supplying a total of 12 gas turbines to the United States, effectively solidifying our position as a global player,” said Seungwoo Sohn, CEO of Doosan Enerbility’s Power Services Business Group. “Doosan plans to continuously supply competitive gas turbines going forward to effectively respond to the rising demand at both home and abroad.”
Since establishing the local manufacturing of large-scale industrial gas turbines in 2019, Doosan secured technological reliability by successfully performing 17,000 hours of demonstration. The most recent contract brings Doosan’s orders to a total of 23 gas turbine units, proving the competitiveness of the company’s products.
KOSPO Contract
In early March, Doosan Enerbility signed a contract with Korea Southern Power Co. (KOSPO) to supply
Under the agreement, Doosan will deliver two gas turbines to the 1,000-MW Hadong Combined Cycle Power Plant under construction in Hadong County, South Gyeongsang Province. A third turbine will be supplied to the 500-MW Goyang-Changneung Combined Cycle Power Plant in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. Doosan will also provide generators and auxiliary equipment for both projects.
Doosan and KOSPO have collaborated since 2018 to promote the domestic gas turbine industry in South Korea. The companies have worked on developing hot gas path components for 7F-class gas turbines and advancing local development of core technologies. As a result, key components—including the 7F gas turbine, combustor, and rotor—have been manufactured locally.
The companies also completed commissioning of the Busan Bit Dream Power Plant, which subsequently entered commercial operation. Last year, Doosan and KOSPO delivered a joint presentation at a major gas turbine users conference in the United States to promote South Korea’s gas turbine technology to international customers.
