The new headquarters will house advanced capabilities such as laser scanning, virtual assembly, metrology, and much more, allowing RMS to serve Gulf Coast customers quickly.

Rotating Machinery Services (RMS) officially opened an over 150,000-square-foot facility in Pasadena, TX, dubbed RMS Bay Area Blvd (BAB), within the Houston Ship Channel’s industrial corridor. The location grants access to large-scale energy, petrochemical, and industrial customers, enabling RMS to serve the Gulf Coast with quicker response times and increased capacity.

“This new facility marks a significant milestone in RMS’s journey,” said John Bartos, Chief Executive Officer of RMS. “With more than 150,000 square feet of advanced shop space and direct access to the Houston Ship Channel, RMS is increasing its ability to deliver flexible, technically advanced solutions. This facility complements RMS’s existing engineered service capabilities at our Pearland Works location, expanding our ability to work on large equipment and multiple big jobs simultaneously.”

The new facility includes heavy-lift capabilities, such as:

  • Three 30-ton cranes
  • One 25-ton crane with 5-ton auxiliary
  • Two 10-ton cranes
  • Three 5-ton cranes
  • One 65-ton crane as a planned upgrade, with installation scheduled during facility renovations

It serves as a hub for end-to-end turbomachinery solutions like blade manufacturing, engineering, and field services. Also, BAB is the new headquarters of RMS’s Global Technology Services, hosting advanced laser scanning, virtual assembly, metrology, and other technology-driven capabilities in one location. Through this investment, RMS improves its position in the turbomachinery aftermarket and expands access for Houston-area customers.

During further development and renovation, RMS will offer exclusive sales-organized tours and additional updates regarding the facility’s progress. The company will begin occupying the building in early October, with the immediate capability to execute equipment overhauls, planned upgrades, and renovations.

Fusion Acquisition

In early May 2025, RMS acquired Houston-based grinding, manufacturing, and coating company, Fusion Inc. The acquisition supports RMS’s vertically integrated manufacturing strategy to manage quality and cost and shorten lead times for turbomachinery overhaul applications. With Fusion acquired, RMS enhances and adds:

  • Precision grinding
  • Thermal spray coatings
  • Tight tolerance grinding
  • Computer numerical control and manual machining
  • Laser cladding
  • Wear-resistant coatings

Fusion also manufactures and delivers custom-machined turbomachinery components with precise specifications, which will support RMS’s overhaul and repair of steam turbines, expanders, compressors, and additional high-performance rotating machinery. The company’s industrial coatings include hard-faced and wear-resistant overlays, improving durability, high-stress operation, and corrosion resistance. RMS will leverage the thermal spray coatings to restore damaged components and extend turbomachinery overhaul intervals.

Fusion will manage operations from its Houston, TX, facility under RMS’s broader U.S.-based repair network. From here, the company aims to support rotating equipment customers with component restoration, manufacturing, and surface treatment services.

BJ Superior Acquisition

In March 2025, RMS also acquired a manufacturer and repair provider located in South Houston, TX: BJ Superior (BJS). The company produces and refurbishes babbitted bearings, labyrinth seals, thrust assemblies, and additional highly engineered components for rotating equipment. BJS was founded in 1978 by Bron Jankowski. It complements RMS’s aftermarket manufacturing and customer service capabilities across the oil and gas, petrochemical, and power generation industries.
