Turbomachinery News Network: Ansaldo Energia, Rotating Machinery Services, Energy Transfer, and more

Author(s)James Cook

The Turbomachinery News Network, for the week of December 29, 2025, covers news from Rotating Machinery Services, Doosan Enerbility, Ansaldo Energia, Baker Hughes, and Energy Transfer.

Welcome to the 28th edition of the Turbomachinery News Network. I’m James Cook, associate editor at Turbomachinery International.

Rotating Machinery Services recently acquired EthosEnergy’s TurboCare Steam and Compression brand—a steam turbine and centrifugal compressor business with four service and manufacturing facilities in the United States, United Kingdom, and the Netherlands. The primary additions include the Chicopee and Sterling blade, seal, diaphragm manufacturing, and steam turbine engineering facilities in Massachusetts, serving as RMS’s dedicated center for the legacy support of GE Fitchburg steam turbines.

Doosan Enerbility and Samsung C&T obtained a supplier contract to provide the primary components for the Qatar Facility E Independent Water and Power Production facility; specifically, the facility’s 2,400-MW gas-fired combined-cycle power plant. Doosan will deliver two 430-MW steam turbines and two associated generators, along with auxiliary equipment, by 2029.

Ansaldo Energia will deliver one hydrogen-ready GT26 gas turbine and one steam turbine, with respective generators, to the new combined-cycle Mátra Power Plant in Hungary. The 521-MW power plant is scheduled to enter commercial operations in early 2029, replacing an existing lignite-fired plant and satisfying Hungary’s ongoing decarbonization initiative, bolstering power supply, and securing grid stability.

Technip Energies granted Baker Hughes full notice to proceed to deliver primary liquefaction equipment for the 9.5 MTPA LNG export facility under development in Cameron, LA. The order includes six refrigerant turbocompressors featuring LM9000 aeroderivative gas turbines and centrifugal compressors, helping Technip Energies and Commonwealth LNG meet the growing demand for low-carbon LNG through its upcoming export facility.

To meet additional customer demand in Arizona and New Mexico, Energy Transfer will increase the transportation capacity of Transwestern Pipeline’s upcoming Desert Southwest Expansion project. The project’s primary pipeline diameter will be upsized from 42 inches to 48 inches, boosting its capacity to approximately 2.3 billion cubic feet per day; however, this volume will depend on the final compression configuration.
