Atlas Copco Appoints Vagner Rego as New President, CEO

Effective May 1, 2024, senior executive vice president Vagner Rego will replace Mats Rahmström as the president and CEO of Atlas Copco Group.

The board of directors for Atlas Copco AB has officially appointed Vagner Rego as the next president and CEO of the company, which will take effect on May 1, 2024. The decision to appoint Rego as the new president and CEO of Atlas Copco occurred following the departure of previous CEO Mats Rahmström, who requested to leave his position after leading the company since 2017.

Vagner Rego is the current senior executive vice president of Atlas Copco and president of the compressor technique business division, having joined the company in 1996 as a trainee engineer from Brazil. In 2006, Rego was appointed to the position of business line manager for compressor technique service in Brazil and in 2010, he became vice president of marketing and sales for the compressor technique service division based in Belgium.

“Vagner Rego is an appreciated leader with a proven track-record in successfully growing and developing the Compressor Technique business area,” said Hans Stråberg, Chair of the Board, Atlas Copco Group. “With his extensive experience and in-depth business and technology knowledge, he is very well suited to lead and further develop the Group.”

In addition to the above-mentioned positions, Rego has also been the general manager for Power Technique’s customer center in Brazil. Prior to occupying his current position in 2017, he served as the president for the compressor technique service division. Born in Brazil in 1972, Rego obtained a degree in mechanical engineering from Mackenzie University and an MBA from Ibmec Business School. The new president and CEO will lead Atlas Copco Group from Stockholm, Sweden.
