The key liquefaction equipment, including Frame-7 turbines and centrifugal compressors, allows Sempra Infrastructure to expand LNG export capabilities in the United States.
Bechtel Energy awarded Baker Hughes a contract to deliver liquefaction equipment for Sempra Infrastructure’s Port Arthur LNG Phase 2 project in Jefferson County, TX. The supply scope includes four Frame-7 turbines and eight centrifugal compressors for two LNG trains, as well as two electric motor-driven compressors for the plant’s booster services. These new assets support a nameplate capacity of approximately 13 MTPA.
"We are delighted to continue as a key technology provider to Bechtel and Sempra Infrastructure in the ongoing expansion of the U.S. Gulf Coast LNG complex," said Ganesh Ramaswamy, Executive Vice President of Industrial & Energy Technology, Baker Hughes. "This award builds on our track record of providing efficient, reliable LNG technology solutions that strengthen the global gas value chain and support a consistent supply of energy worldwide."
Baker Hughes’ gas technology solutions, installed during Port Arthur LNG Phases 1 and 2, provide Sempra Infrastructure with improved production levels consistent with each plant’s design. Additionally, the technology delivers operational flexibility, high availability, and a lower emissions footprint. The company’s Frame-7 gas turbine boasts energy efficiency, reliability, and maintainability.

The key liquefaction equipment allows Sempra Infrastructure to expand critical LNG export infrastructure in the United States, tackling the rising global demand for LNG supplies.
"Building on our successful collaboration with Baker Hughes on Phase 1 of the Port Arthur LNG project, we look forward to achieving more LNG project milestones together," said Bhupesh Thakkar, General Manager for Bechtel’s LNG business. "Baker Hughes’ technology solutions play a key role in our ability to enable the expansion of LNG capacity at Port Arthur LNG."
In September, Bechtel Energy awarded Baker Hughes a contract to deliver main liquefaction equipment for Train 4 at NextDecade’s Rio Grande LNG facility in the Port of Brownsville, TX. The complete order includes two Frame-7 gas turbines and six centrifugal compressors, replicating the technologies installed on the first three LNG trains.
Baker Hughes’ gas turbines and compressors deliver reliability, energy efficiency, and lower emissions, supporting an additional 6 MTPA of LNG capacity at the facility and allowing sustainable energy development. Previously, the company entered a framework agreement to provide gas turbines, refrigerant compressors, and contractual services for Rio Grande LNG’s Trains 4 – 8.
In late August 2025, Baker Hughes obtained a 90-month service award for bp’s Tangguh LNG plant in Papua Barat, Indonesia, which covers spare parts, repair services, and field-service engineering support for the facility’s turbomachinery: heavy-duty gas turbines, steam turbines, and compressors for three LNG trains. Baker Hughes is cooperating with PT Imeco Inter Sarana, a local partner, to deliver local content per the agreement.
The long-term service agreement will ensure reliable operations for bp’s Tangguh LNG facility, which plays a key role in Indonesia’s energy strategy by supplying reliable energy for the Asia-Pacific region. By maintaining the performance and availability of critical turbomachinery, LNG operation may continue uninterrupted. Baker Hughes and bp have partnered since 2009 for the Tangguh LNG project and, in 2024, the company supplied additional critical power and compression systems.
