Bonatti is executing engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning and startup for port facilities, underground pipelines, and fiber optics.

Bonatti and Transition Industries signed a heads of agreement (HoA) contract to develop critical port infrastructure at the Pacifico Mexinol project in Sinaloa, Mexico. According to the HoA, Bonatti is responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup for port facilities at the Terminal Transoceánica de Topolobampo (TTT), where methanol loading and export operations occur.

“We are thrilled to be part of this flagship project, which marks an important step toward decarbonization,” said Gustavo Blejer, Bonatti’s Commercial Director for the Americas. “This is a great opportunity to combine Bonatti’s global expertise with our strong local experience, and to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ahome, Sinaloa, and Mexico.”

The company will also conduct similar work on the subsurface methanol transfer and vapor recovery pipelines and dual fiber optic cables that connect the main process plant and Mexinol port site. Additionally, Bonatti will construct a closed-loop water pipeline system from the JAPAMA oxidation pools to the site. The system treats and recycles municipal wastewater, avoiding freshwater usage or harming the Bay of Ohuira. Bonatti’s water pipeline makes Pacifico Mexinol a large-scale application of industrial water reuse from municipal effluent.

“We are proud to have Bonatti, a world-leader in pipeline EPCs, as part of our execution team,” said Balmore Brito, Pacifico Mexinol Project Director and Head of Engineering and Technology for Transition Industries. “Their international expertise coupled with their local field experience and knowledge operating in Ahome Municipality, Sinaloa, is good for the project and the local communities near where we operate.”

Transition Industries and the International Finance Corp. are jointly developing Pacifico Mexinol, an ultra-low carbon chemical production facility with an output of 6,130 metric tons of methanol per day. Upon commercial startup in 2029, the facility will produce approximately 350,000 MT of green methanol and 1.8 million MT of blue methanol per year from natural gas with carbon capture.

Pacifico Mexinol Supplies Mitsubishi

In late October 2024, Pacifico Mexinol agreed to supply Mitsubishi Gas Chemical Co. (MGC) with approximately 1 mmtpa of ultra-low-carbon methanol, according to a letter of intent signed between Transition Industries and MGC.

Bonatti Teams Up with Everllence

In December 2024, Bonatti and Everllence signed a contract to build and maintain EDF PEI’s new Ricanto bioenergy power plant in Corsica. Replacing the old Le Vazzio plant in late 2027 or early 2028, the new facility will feature eight 18V51/60 engines with a total capacity of 130 MW, supplying power to the Corsican electrical grid.

Under the contract, Everllence PrimeServ will conduct maintenance over a 25-year period, including:

  • Provision for spare parts
  • Major maintenance services
  • Technical services
  • Training modules for EDF-PEI employees

Everllence’s after-sales brand currently provides maintenance for numerous plants owned by EDF-PEI—a subsidiary of Électricité de France SA that constructs and operates power generation facilities in French foreign regions, including Corsica.
