TCT opens new repair facility in Alberta

TransCanada Turbines (TCT) has opened a new 220,000 ft2 overhaul and repair facility in Airdrie, Alberta. The new facility houses production, project management and support staff for TCT’s GE Level 4 and Rolls-Royce MROC services, and replaces the old facilities in Calgary and Airdrie.

The plant allows for the induction of any engine type – Avon, RB211 (including DLE and GT), LM2500 (including LM2500+) or LM6000. A cellular production design enables TCT to meet user turnaround time demands, and features in-house inspection, clean line, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT), disassembly, build, materials and balance capability.

Building amenities include covered truck bays, and 18 overhead cranes, ranging up to 20 m.t. The facility has a fully automated clean line, walkthrough NDT line, dedicated space for blade and vane NDT, an enclosed inspection room and extensive balancing capabilities.
